Paul Dooley is a character actor with a six-decade career. He is best remembered as the hilarious dad in the film Breaking Away, and as Molly Ringwald’s father in Sixteen Candles. Since then, he has been Dad to Julia Roberts, Toni Collette, Hillary Swank, Mia Farrow and many others. He has been featured in five Robert Altman movies, including A Wedding, A Perfect Couple, Health, and Popeye, starring Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall, playing the part of the hamburger-loving “Wimpy,” and can also be seen in several Christopher Guest movies, including Waiting for Guffman. Other film credits include Runaway Bride, Hairspray, and Insomnia. His TV credits include roles on Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Good Doctor, Modern Family, Grey’s Anatomy, My So-Called Life, thirtysomething and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Paul has been Emmy-nominated twice for Best Supporting Actor, for The Practice and Dream On. He recently published his memoir, Movie Dad, available now from Applause Books.
Winnie Holzman is the co-writer (with acclaimed composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz) of the hit musical Wicked, as well as the co-screenwriter of both movie adaptations of Wicked. Her TV credits include “thirtysomething,” and the memorable drama series “My So-Called Life,” which starred Claire Danes. With her mentors Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick she collaborated on the series “Once and Again,” and later with her daughter, Savannah Dooley, on the ABC Family Series “Huge.” Her play Choice was recently produced at the McCarter Theatre. She is a graduate of Princeton University, and the NYU Musical Theatre Program.

Garry Marshall Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing innovative performances, educational opportunities, and storytelling activities for all ages, year-round. Located in the heart of Burbank and Toluca Lake’s media district, the acclaimed theatre was founded in 1997 as the Falcon Theatre by Hollywood legend Garry Marshall. Reestablished as the nonprofit Garry Marshall Theatre in 2017 after Marshall’s passing, the theatre strives to cultivate new artists and experiences that spark ideas and build community.
