Garry Marshall loved camp. The idea of camp. The spirit of camp. The fun of camp.
Garry Marshall also loved sports. The team working together. The practice and precision. The goal being a win - even a small win.
This summer 2023, GMT is making room for more fun, more connection, and more art.
Young artists from the ages of 8-17 are invited to be bold, be brave, and be creative as we adventure through the world of the performing arts.

Monday, June 12 to Friday, June 16, 9am-4pm
1-week camp with Joseph Leo Bwarie, Anna Aimee White, and special guest artists from television and Broadway.
COURSE BREAKDOWN
Confidence and presence is key for performers. Young artists will be immersed in a fun-filled week that will take their current knowledge and approach to stage presence to the next level. This dynamic camp will use crafts, activities, and theatre games to explore physicality for stage and screen, technical physical comedy, core broadway movement vocabulary, finding one’s voice, and exploring communication and expressing emotions. After this week, young artists will have gained tools for what it takes to stand on a stage with power, confidence, poise and pres- ence — all through fun-filled days.
SESSION 2 - PERFORMANCE TIME
Monday, June 19 to Friday, June 23 & Monday, June 26 to Friday, June 30, 9am-4pm
2-week camp with Joseph Leo Bwarie, Becca Sweitzer, Anthony Lucca, Tina Groff, Malynda Hale, Julie Pearl and special guest artists from television and Broadway.
COURSE BREAKDOWN
This is a 2-week program. How does a performer take their bag of tricks and knowledge of skills and put them into practice? Throughout this two-week musical theatre camp, we will explore the many layers of building a performance as the team or ensemble collectively creates a musical theatre revue that highlights every element of a present, focused, unique performer. Through skill building theatre games, and activities involving: voice, movement, emotions, script exploration, improv, storytelling, and finding the joy of being on a stage, the ensemble of players will culminate in a showcase of their talents and teamwork.

YOUTH ARTS SUMMER CAMP GOAL
We start with fun and we end with fun.
And everything in between will be both kinetic and immersed in the exciting world of professional live performance. Discovery, exploration and learning is a constant in the vibrant art of performing. In the one-week “Stage Craft” camp, we will learn, practice and refine skills that are at the core of what makes a stand-out performer who is having a great time on stage. In the two-week “Performance Time” camp we play with foundational elements of performance in the American Musical Theatre including: understanding an actor’s full range of voice, gaining a better command of body language and physicality, key components of stage presence, the power in communicating with others using eye contact and confidence.
Young artists involved in this summer camp will have a great time building their actor “tool kit.” The one-week “Stage Craft” camp is the essential experience for stage performers. It is all about the foundations that make an actor versatile and confident. Young artists who participate in the two-week “Performance Time” camp will find themselves on the Garry Marshall Theatre stage presenting a musical revue created within the camp.
