There is nothing quite like the tactile experience of making brush strokes against canvas and stage cloth. It combines creativity with technique in a visual expression that enhances storytelling for the stage.
In GMT’s first Jr. Tech, Youth ages 9-11 are wearing paint clothes and spending five incredible Saturdays exploring the fundamentals of:
Color mixing
Brush technique
Roller technique
Sponge technique
Shadow and highlight
Large scale scenic painting
These five sessions will give young people knowledge far beyond theatre craft, but life skills in thought organization, color theory and design, having to paint over something to reach the intended goal (literally), and working as the professionals do - as a team.
Taught by professionals in the industry, participants will learn how to stay safe while painting and discover how visual art helps tell stories on stage. Painted scenery will be featured at the first ever GMT SPRING SING on MAY 2nd at 7pm and MAY 3rd at 4pm!
Please be sure to check your calendar before purchase as classes, youth productions and camps are nonrefundable.
