About the show:
Our GMT youth production of The Wizard of Oz will be a lively and inspired adaptation of the beloved classic story. With a non-traditional storytelling approach, the ensemble will work with professionals to build a fresh production combining music, movement, and imagination for an unforgettable experience.
L. Frank Baum’s beloved story of a young girl’s adventure in a magical land has been entertaining audiences for over a century. MGM’s blockbuster 1939 film adaptation, featuring the timeless songs of Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, along with the brilliant instrumental music of Herbert Stothart, elevated the popular novel to even greater heights. This stage adaptation, featuring the characters and celebrated songs from the film, brings the wondrous Land of Oz to life in a jubilant theatrical experience.
Join Dorothy and her loyal companion Toto as they “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” through the Land of Oz, determined to reach the Emerald City, where the great and powerful Wizard of Oz will help them get home. Of course, along the way, Dorothy encounters witches (both good and bad), Munchkins, talking trees and winged monkeys. But most importantly, she befriends three unique characters: a Scarecrow with no brain, a Tin Man with no heart, and a Lion with no “nerve.” Their journey to happiness – and self-awareness – is a glowing testament to friendship, understanding and hope in a world filled with both beauty and ugliness.
Limited Spaces Available. Tuition Assistance available.

All performers will participate in ensemble musical theatre learning. All participants will be encouraged to build their skills in large choreographed numbers focusing on Broadway style patterns, formations, dancing while vocalizing and working with precision.
Participants will attend rehearsals with their assigned age group. During the first few weeks, these rehearsals will focus on building performance skills, ensemble work, and becoming familiar with the show material.
Our goal is to ensure every performer has the opportunity to shine in a role that fits their strengths while maintaining a collaborative and fun rehearsal process.
Details about potential casting opportunities:
After a few rehearsals, all participants will be offered the opportunity to audition for specific roles within the show. This will be a general call. While casting will primarily align with age groups, there may be occasions where the directing team will identify a participant best suited for a role listed in another age group. If this occurs, we may offer them that role, with the understanding that they will join the other age group’s rehearsals for the rest of the rehearsal process, scene work and role preparation.
There are multiple casting opportunities through double casting.
